EY names Lee Downham new energy leader for UK & Ireland
Big Four firm EY has promoted Lee Downham to the role of Energy leader for its UK & Ireland organisation.
Lee Downham has over two decades of experience in the Strategy and Transactions division of EY, where he most recently served as the Global Mining & Metals leader.
The move to UK&I Leader of the Energy industry vertical will see him lead a multi-disciplinary team of over 1,500 staff, helping clients navigate the challenges presented by the energy transition and a shifting regulatory market.
According to Downham, EY’s energy team will play a strategic role in working with and supporting businesses “as they grapple with this disruption and progress their transition to a low carbon, more sustainable future.”
“Power and utilities, renewables, oil and gas and mining and metals companies face a common challenge – how to navigate short-term commercial pressures with the need to position their businesses for a future that is rapidly changing.”
Downham has advised on multiple complex deals in the energy sector. “It’s great to have Lee on board to lead the team at one of the most important periods in the sector’s history,” said EY’s Managing Partner for Client Service, Alison Kay.
“Under Lee’s leadership, the energy team will draw on the strengths and skills of our whole business, to offer our clients the support they need.”
Before joining EY in 2004, Downham worked in the corporate finance wing of Moore Stephens.
