EY partner Yunus Ozler elected next President of the MCA
The Management Consultancies Association has announced Yunus Ozler as its new President. The EY UK&I energy leader will succeed incumber Nadun Muthukumarana in the spring.
The Management Consultancies Association (MCA) provides a collective voice for the UK consulting industry. Its members make up more than 60% of revenues in the UK’s £14 billion advisory scene, and employ roughly 45,000 professionals, while working with more than 90 of the FTSE 100 companies and the vast majority of the public sector.
Following the organisation’s traditional selection process, incumbent MCA Vice President Yunus Ozler has been duly elected, and will take up his new post on April 6th 2022.
The MCA’s President is elected every two years, from among the members of the MCA Council. Serving a single term, the President then serves with the MCA Board to direct and supervise the work of the trade association.
Ozler steps into the shoes of outgoing President Nadun Muthukumarana as Britain’s consulting industry faces an upsurge in demand from clients, while facing challenges to recruit more talent – and adapt for their hybridised working needs. He also takes on the Presidency amid a time of rapid growth at the MCA itself – which saw membership rise 40% in the last three years, through the tenures of Muthukumarana and his predecessor Howard Scott.
As he looks to build on those legacies, and help the consulting community make the most of its bright future, Ozler said, “We are in an exciting phase of growth for consulting as clients are transforming at pace and turning to consultants as trusted advisors for our opinions, skills, expertise, and innovation… In addition, new ways of working are providing opportunities for our profession to become even more inclusive, bringing diverse talent pools into consulting. Supporting initiatives to attract and retain the best talent across the profession is a key priority for me in my role as MCA President.”
Ozler has worked in consulting for over 22 years. More than 16 of those have been spent with EY, where he has worked with leading Energy and Resources organisations as they adapt and transform their businesses for a more sustainable net zero world.
He sits as the Big Four company’s current EY UK&I Energy and Resources Consulting Leader and Partner, and has authored numerous thought leadership publications on new energy business models, digital technology and customer centricity. He was also awarded the UK Strategy Consultant of the Year at the MCA Awards in 2013.
Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the MCA, commented, “Yunus has been a tireless and active supporter of many of our key activities on the MCA board and we look forward to working with him in delivering first class membership services and representation in the future. Our commitment remains steadfast towards ethics and professionalism in consulting as evident by the introduction of the Chartered Management Consultant Award and we are looking forward to growing this further in the coming years.”
Stepping into Ozler’s shoes, meanwhile, the MCA has also announced newly elected Vice Presidents. Mason Advisory CEO Steve Watmough, who is also Chair of the MCA SME Committee, and Lucy Jeffreys from IBM Consulting, take on the shared position. They will be joined on the MCA Board by new members Rachel Charlton from Deloitte, Chris Twigg from Inner Circle Consulting and Roy Williams from Vendigital.
