Chris Meyrick boosts BDO financial services offering in Scotland

Professional services firm BDO has strengthened its financial services team in Scotland with the appointment of a new partner. Chris Meyrick arrives with BDO having most recently worked with a Big Four firm. 

Reflecting on the latest chapter in his career, Meyrick said, “I look forward to using my knowledge and experience working with both new and existing clients as they recover from the disruption of the last two years and look ahead to future growth and innovation. This is a really exciting time to be joining BDO, and I am looking forward to getting stuck in to recruiting to grow our team and further develop our financial services practice in Scotland.”

Meyrick arrives at an important crossroads for BDO’s clients in the financial services sector. Having demonstrated considerable resilience over the last two years amid the unprecedented uncertainty of the pandemic and Brexit, financial services operators are now faced with pivoting their business models to come out ahead in a future economic recovery. As the sector makes a significant contribution to the local market, it is not only important to financial services operators that they manage to do this – the sector will play a key role in funding the recovery of post-pandemic Scotland.

Joining BDO’s Scottish team as a Partner focusing on the financial services and audit, Meyrick will be based across Glasgow and Edinburgh. He brings 20 years of experience to the role, having supported a wide range of businesses ranging from large multinationals to SMEs, in that time. reflecting Scotland’s position as a leading financial centre. He spent the last decade with PwC, where he was a Director, while prior to that he spent 11 years at KPMG

BDO has made significant investments in its financial services offering over the last twelve months. The firm has appointed and promoted five new dedicated financial services partners and now operates as a team of almost 600 people. Meanwhile, this growth recently enabled BDO to join a new joint venture with remediation specialist Regulatory Finance Solutions. Known as BDO Regulatory Services the offering serves the financial services remediation market.
