In early January, the international consulting firm Celerant Consulting was acquired by Hitachi Consulting. During the transaction Celerant Consulting was financially advised by Catalyst Corporate Finance, a British corporate finance consulting firm.

Catalyst has a good connection with the operations and supply chain consulting firm. In 2006 it advised the management of Celerant Consulting during its $77 million management buy-out (MBO) from Novell, triggered by Novell’s strategic desire to refocus on its core businesses. In the following years Catalyst continued to work closely with the consulting firm.

“We were delighted to work with Celerant on the MBO in 2006, and have continued to do so throughout the interim period as they have shaped Celerant into a major global leader in the consultancy space” Andy Currie explains, Managing Partner van Catalyst.

After Hitachi Consulting approached the management of Celerant Consulting in 2012, Celerant decided to hire Catalyst Corporate Finance to support them during the due diligence and transaction process. “Our intimate knowledge of the business helped us complete a deal that delivers the full life cycle to the shareholders and is an important acquisition for Hitachi Consulting as part of its on-going global growth strategy” according to Currie.
