Begbies Traynor expands Eddisons operations in Sheffield
Begbies Traynor is a UK based professional services firm, specialising in business recovery work. Beyond this, the firm has been diversifying in recent years too – and now boasts a growing financial advisory wing, as well as a fast-developing property services consulting practice – both of which are provided nationally via a comprehensive network of UK locations.
Eddisons – Begbies Traynor’s property advisory and transactional services division – is a professional services firm which specialises in property consulting and construction project management. The chartered surveyor works in fast moving and dynamic markets across the UK and overseas, with staff delivering advice and a comprehensive range of services to property owners and occupiers, businesses and financial institutions.
Earlier in 2021, Eddisons was bolstered by the purchase of Hargreaves Newberry Gyngell by Begbies Traynor. The chartered surveyor employed 13 staff, all of whom integrated with Eddisons. Now, as the firm looks to further boost its surveyor offering, Eddisons has been expanded with another acquisition.
Fernie Greaves Chartered Surveyors is a South Yorkshire based advisory firm. Its purchase grows Eddisons’ presence in Sheffield, and the new team from Fernie Greaves, headed by Paul Oddy and George Thompson, will join Eddisons’ Sheffield team creating an enlarged team of 13 staff.
Anthony Spencer, Managing Partner of Eddisons, commented, “The acquisition of the Fernie Greaves team will enhance our existing Eddisons team in Sheffield and broaden our reach across South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. I am very pleased to welcome the team to Eddisons and to the wider Begbies Traynor Group. As we reported in the group’s recent trading update, Eddisons is in a strong position, trading well and we continue to seek opportunities to grow the Eddisons’ business, both organically and through acquisitions."
Begbie Traynors Group will pay a total consideration of £250,000 from its existing financial resources for the transaction. Meanwhile, the Fernie Greaves team has typically generated annual fee income of around £500,000.
