Kirsty Rockall made Grant Thornton's UK Head of Transfer Pricing

25 August 2021 Consultancy.uk

Grant Thornton has boosted its UK tax wing with the arrival of Kirsty Rockall. Heading up the firm’s transfer pricing offering, she brings more than two decades of experience to the role.

In taxation and accounting, transfer pricing refers to the rules and methods for pricing transactions within and between enterprises under common ownership or control. In this case, a transfer price is the price at which related parties transact with each other, such as during the trade of supplies or labour between departments.

If your business is part of a multinational group and engages in cross-border transactions with other entities within the group, your business is obliged to demonstrate that the transactions were entered into on commercial grounds and that the remunerations for these transactions are at arm’s length. As this is an area of business that affects most multinational companies, Grant Thornton’s tax practice offers clients help with their transfer pricing documentation and policies.

Kirsty Rockall, Head of Transfer Pricing, Grant Thornton

Bolstering this offering is Kirsty Rockall, who joins Grant Thornton UK as its new Head of Transfer Pricing. In her new role, she will set and lead the strategy for Grant Thornton’s national transfer pricing team across the country.

Commenting on her appointment, Rockall noted, “Shifts in the geopolitical landscape have thrust transfer pricing into the limelight, with greater focus on transparency, responsible tax and reputation, in addition to increasing compliance obligations as tax authorities compete for revenues on a global stage. I'm thrilled to have started my role at Grant Thornton and to be working closely with the team to help our clients successfully navigate through those choppy tax waters.”

She joins the firm with over 20 years of experience working in transfer pricing, both in the UK and internationally, advising a range of clients from start-ups through to FTSE 100 businesses. The duration of this was spent with Big Four firm KPMG, where she was latterly a Transfer Pricing Partner.

Karen Campbell-Williams, Head of Tax, Grant Thornton UK, added, “This is an exciting time for our tax business as we invest in our people, grow our business and support our clients as they operate in increasingly complex environments both nationally and globally. Kirsty brings to the team her significant experience of designing and implementing transfer pricing policies for businesses as they grow, expand and develop their operations and international presence and I’m delighted to welcome her to Grant Thornton.”
