Growing advisory firm Argon & Co has announced the acquisition of a specialist team of procurement consultants. The former procurement and supply management team of Ayming will now join Argon & Co’s existing procurement division.

Argon & Co is a global management consultancy that specialises in operations strategy and transformation. Its expertise spans the supply chain, procurement, finance and shared services, working together with clients to transform their businesses and generate real change.

The firm was created by the merger of Argon Consulting and Crimson & Co in 2018 – establishing a combined group, headquartered in London and Paris, with more than 230 consultants in six offices across the world. The company has continued to grow via organic means and acquisitions since then – with the latest chapter of its expansion seeing it purchase the UK procurement wing of Ayming.

A press release from Argon & Co noted that Ayming UK’s procurement and supply management team “has a proven track record of delivering large client engagements focused on procurement transformation, organisation design, strategic sourcing and digitalisation.” It also noted that the team’s “in-depth market knowledge” can help Argon & Co better meet client demand in the supply and procurement segment. As such the move represents a major step in Argon & Co’s expansion strategy, building on its existing procurement capability in the UK.

Richard Powell, Managing Partner of Argon & Co in the UK, noted, “Ayming’s procurement team has made a big impact within the UK market and we are delighted that they are joining our growing business. They have deep specialist knowledge within their team and will provide immediate value to our clients.”

Meanwhile, according to one of the team’s directors, James Bousher, the move also benefits the former Ayming team. He suggested by joining Argon & Co, the team will be able to offer a broader range of management consultancy services to more clients around the world. Fellow Director John Thorpe added that the two entities have similar underlying philosophies, and a shared approach to consulting – suggesting a close cultural fit was also a key driver behind the deal.

Further commenting on the close fit of the two groups, Yvan Salamon, CEO of Argon & Co, added, “The Ayming procurement team are experts in their field, with an impressive set of credentials. We are pleased that they have joined us and will be adding to the procurement services that we already offer not only in the UK, but around the world.”

Ayming is a global team of 1,300 colleagues, working across 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia. It has a 30-year track record of providing leadership and sharing insight, and will continue to trade independently after the exit of its UK procurement and supply management team.
