RSK acquires construction consultancy CS2
Chartered surveyor CS2 has been acquired by engineering firm RSK. Business advisory firm Consulting M&A worked with CS2 to support the firm through the sale process.
Founded in 1999, CS2 a UK construction advisory firm, offering a fully integrated service covering building surveying, insurance surveying, cost consultancy, project management, construction consultancy, dilapidations, energy and sustainability. Operating from seven UK offices, the firm’s locals service their regional business communities, while providing a local hub for the requirements of CS2’s wider national blue-chip client base. The firm’s reach was one of the factors which attracted the attention of RSK – an environmental and engineering professional services provider, which has purchased CS2 for an undisclosed fee.
RSK was established in 1989, and has since expanded to a group of more than 100 companies delivering end-to-end solutions to clients across the construction sector. With its head office in Helsby, Cheshire, RSK employs over 6,000 specialists worldwide and is known for providing practical solutions to global challenges.
RSK Chief Executive Officer and founder Alan Ryder said, “We are extremely pleased to welcome CS2 into the group as they further our aim of providing end-to-end solutions for our clients. A company with a spirit of passion, partnership and performance is absolutely one that RSK can get behind. Our shared ethos will lead to fantastic opportunities that we look forward to exploring.”
The deal represents RSK’s 11th purchase of 2021. Prior to the arrival, the firm had also acquired The Scan Station, RSK Orbital, SkyVision International, Smith + Kennedy Architects, Stephenson Halliday, QSI, Waldrams, Althoff & Lang GbR, Minerex, and TechnikGS.
The acquisition will see CS2 continuing to deliver surveying and consultancy services to its clients, as part of the RSK brand. The entire workforce will be retained, while CS2’s existing management team, headed by Managing Director Andrew Mather, will continue to lead the arm of the business. CS2 will become part of RSK’s Geosciences and Engineering division.
“CS2 is delighted to be on board and to be part of RSK’s strategic investment programme,” Mather stated. “RSK’s technical excellence across a huge range of services and sectors will be of significant interest and benefit to our clients. We are culturally and philosophically aligned and we shall continue to provide fantastic client service, delivered by technical experts.”
Consulting M & A has supported CS2, one of the UK’s most reputable construction consultancies, through the sale process to RSK. Launched in 2019, Consulting M&A is a London based company enabling owners of consulting and IT services business to grow valuable and sellable businesses.
Commenting on the news, Bruce Ramsay, Managing Partner of Consulting M&A, said, "RSK are one of the most prolific acquires in the environmental and engineering consulting sector with at least 12 deals already in 2021. With their proven ability to acquire, integrate and grow they will make a great home for CS2’s shareholders, staff and clients."
