Cognizant acquires Irish data specialist TQS Integration

21 July 2021 Consultancy.uk

Global consultancy Cognizant has confirmed its fifth deal of 2021, as it looks to bolster its industrial data capacities. Irish data intelligence firm TQS Integration will become part of Cognizant for an undisclosed fee.

As manufacturers embrace Industry 4.0, industrial data platforms and services which can provide a holistic view of the value chain are becoming increasingly sought after. Consultants with these capacities are well positioned to help clients with the modernisation of their industrial practices, and so since 2019, Cognizant has accelerated growth in the areas of Internet of Things, data and analytics with acquisitions including Zenith Technologies, Bright Wolf, and ESG Mobility.

Now, Cognizant has continued its strengthening of its digital industry offering with the purchase of TQS Integration. The transaction is expected to close in 2021’s third quarter, and sees Cognizant expand its presence in Ireland.

Based in Lismore, Ireland, TQS delivers manufacturing data intelligence, global technology consulting and digital systems integration to help manufacturers accelerate their digital transformations. Since 1998, TQS has serviced clients in the life sciences, food and beverage, and energy and renewables industries. Its clients currently include nine of the top 10 global life sciences companies, which it helps to enable smart manufacturing.

Srinivas Shankar, Cognizant’s Global Markets Lead in Life Sciences, said, "With TQS, Cognizant not only becomes one of the industry's most comprehensive solutions for Manufacturing 4.0 for life sciences. We also strengthen our data historian and analytics capabilities to help all our manufacturing clients harness the power of data intelligence to compete in new ways."

TQS's data intelligence capabilities use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to collect, contextualise and analyse manufacturing data. This allows manufacturers to make smarter decisions and improve operating costs, speed of implementation, and product quality and yield. They will now be combined with Cognizant's core Industry+ and digital competencies.

"Our world-class team of data intelligence and technology consultants have built a tremendous track record in helping our life sciences manufacturing clients transform their businesses," said Máire Quilty, Corporate Managing Director at TQS. "Together with Cognizant, we look forward to broadening our impact to manufacturing clients in other industries who are looking to embrace Industry 4.0."
