David Bowen joins EY as Partner in family office wing

02 June 2021 Consultancy.uk

Big Four firm EY has added to its private tax practice with the appointment of David Bowen. The new Partner arrives from Deloitte, and will lead EY’s family office consulting team.

A traditional single family office is a business run by and for a single family, with its sole function being to centralise the management of a significant family fortune. EY’s family office consulting practice specialises in advising on the set up, review and transformation of single family offices.

As the firm looks to strengthen the practice, it has engaged Big Four stalwart David Bowen as a Partner. He joins the firm with a remit to build the family office consulting team and associated offering to deliver a full range of services to help high-net-worth families professionalise and institutions their offices.

Bowen arrives competitor Deloitte, where he worked for five years. During that time as Head of Private Office Consulting, he built a sizeable private office consulting business advising some of the world’s wealthiest families on designing and building single family offices, as well as benchmarking, reviewing and transforming existing single family offices.

Prior to this, Bowen spent four years with PwC. Initially this saw him work as Head of Wealth Advisory, South West, building and leading the firm’s wealth advisory practice across the Wales and West region, covering Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Southampton, Reading and Uxbridge offices. He then spent the second half of his time with the company in PwC’s Private Office, offering advice for multi-jurisdictional clients and their families.

Commenting via his personal LinkedIn profile, Bowen said, “Friday was my last official day at Deloitte... And I am now thrilled to announce that as of Tuesday I will be joining the amazing Private Client Services Team at EY as partner to lead the UK & I Family Office Advisory Services Team.”

The post has been liked and commented on 400 times, by colleagues and well-wishers. These included Jeff Soar, Managing Partner in Tax and Law with EY UK & Ireland, who stated it was “fantastic to have you join us, very much looking forward to work with you to build out the family office business,” while Jenny Tevlin, a Director in Tax Controversy & Risk Management at EY, added, “welcome David. Great to hear you are joining the team!”
