Mark Alcock and Mark Matthew join risk consultancy Equib
Birmingham-based risk management consultancy Equib has welcomed two new principal managers to its team: Mark Alcock and Mark Matthew.
Mark Alcock brings over 40 years of experience as a risk management specialist on large capital projects and for operating companies in the mining, rail, defence, power, and nuclear industries to the firm. “I have been fortunate to know and work with Equib for a number of years and have managed some of its employees directly. As project risk management practitioners go, they are topflight,” he said.
His career highlights to date include senior risk roles for the Astute Class Submarine, Metronet SSL, Crossrail-Western tunnels, and HS2 Phase 1. He specialises in the design and roll-out of integrated project risk systems, assumptions management, and improving risk capability through education and training.
Mark Matthew brings nearly two decades of experience as a risk management specialist on large-scale infrastructure projects, as well as programmes in the defence, aerospace, energy, and nuclear industries. “Having been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the firm’s consultants on previous projects, I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the firm,” he said.
Among his career highlights is supporting BAE Systems with risk management and analysis in early-stage development of the £30 billion Dreadnought Submarine Programme. His key strengths include creating quantitative risk and uncertainty models to aid decision making.
Both new joiners have meanwhile been staffed on a major infrastructure programme – providing risk management support on the delivery of HS2 Phase 1 (a joint venture between Balfour Beatty and VINCI).
Equib specialises in risk advisory and management services to projects in the heavy civil construction and infrastructure sectors. Bill Zuurbier, managing director at Equib said on the additions: “We’ve got some of the brightest risk management minds in the business here at Equib and it’s great to have both Mark’s on board.”
