Dylan Rees and Jamie Preston join Grant Thornton in Cardiff
The Cardiff office of Grant Thornton has boosted its team with two new appointments. Associate Tax Director Jamie Preston relocates from the firm’s Sheffield locale, while Dylan Rees is promoted to Audit Officer in the firm’s leading Welsh hub.
Jonathan Riley, practice leader for Grant Thornton in the South West of the UK, said of the news, “It’s great to see these outstanding professionals progress – both Jamie and Dylan have a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise and make a real difference for our clients.”
Jamie Preston joins the Cardiff team as Associate Tax Director following a 12-year stint in Grant Thornton’s Sheffield office. He brings with him a wealth of experience in supporting private-equity firms with international portfolios and is also handling companies with the tax implications of Brexit.
Commenting on his new role, Preston remarked, “Cardiff is an exciting, cultural city and, along with the wider South West region that we serve, well placed to recover as the economy resets post-Covid. I have now been with Grant Thornton for 13 years and I am looking forward to working alongside my colleagues in the Cardiff office to support our clients in navigating this exciting period of growth and recovery.”
Dylan Rees meanwhile achieves promotion to Audit Director, having joined Grant Thornton five years previously from Audit Wales. He has almost a decade of experience working within the audit sector, having since worked with a diverse client base across Wales and the South West of England, ranging from small owner manager companies to large private equity backed groups.
Rees said, “Since joining the audit team five years ago, I have seen the department and the office go from strength to strength. Grant Thornton have provided me and others with excellent personal development opportunities, and I’m looking forward to repaying them and working alongside Rhian and the rest of the local leadership team to grow the business even further.”
Looking ahead, Rees will continue to work closely with Rhian Owen, Audit Partner in the Cardiff office, to lead the audit team and continue to drive growth, providing strong client service and delivering high quality audit work. Meanwhile, both Preston and Rees will work in close collaboration with Grant Thornton’s Bristol office, to support clients based across the entire South West region.
Owen himself stated, “We’re delighted to see our colleagues progress and value the contributions they are making within our team as we grow our offering in Wales.”
