ESG expert Troy Mortimer joins Alpha FMC as Director
Asset and wealth management consulting firm Alpha FMC has hired Troy Mortimer as a Director. A recognised industry expert in sustainability and responsible investment, he joins the firm's ESG & Responsible Investment Leadership team.
Over the last decade, environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks have swiftly risen to the top of the investment community’s agenda. One survey from EY previously found that 92% of investors agree that over the long-term, ESG issues such as climate change and executive diversity have quantifiable impacts on businesses.
As investors work to factoring this into their business plans, many are turning to the consulting industry for support. One such firm is Alpha FMC, which has offices in London, Edinburgh, New York, Boston, Paris, Geneva, Zürich, Amsterdam, Luxembourg and Singapore, and over 440 permanent employees globally, providing perspective, strategy, and technical expertise to the world’s top asset and wealth managers.
As it prepares for heightened ESG demand, it has appointed Troy Mortimer to its UK team. Mortimer brings extensive experience working globally across multiple asset classes and for various participants in the asset management industry, and joins Vanessa Bingle and the firm’s ESG & Responsible Investment team.
Incepted over 17 years ago, the practice supports clients to further embed Responsible Investment in every area of their business, across investment processes, client-facing functions, regulation, and data and technology. The wing is growing quickly, and is currently engaged on multiple projects, working with many of the industry’s most high-profile organisations.
Stuart McNulty, Alpha FMC Global Chief Client Officer, commented, “ESG and responsible investing is a major theme for our clients. We are delighted that Troy has agreed to join a the Alpha FMC team in this space, and bring further insight, experience and senior capacity to expand our reach. He has a fantastic reputation in the industry and brings a wealth of experience.”
The new Director brings extensive experience working globally across multiple asset classes and for various participants in the asset management industry. Mortimer boasts a track record helping clients overcome challenges in relation to sustainability, ESG and responsible investment integration, due diligence, and impact reporting. Most recently, this saw him work as Head of Sustainability and Responsible Investment at KPMG – a company he spent more than 20 years of his career with.
Speaking on the latest chapter in his working life, Mortimer said, “Globally, the wealth and asset management industry faces some significant challenges with respect to ESG data, regulation, evolving operating models and ever-increasing stakeholder demands… I am thrilled to be joining Alpha FMC’s ESG and Responsible Investment practice… Alpha as a corporate is ‘walking the talk’ of ESG by its commitment to report on its own performance using SASB.”
