PA Consulting has appointed Aris Karcanias as the new Global Head of its Energy & Utilities practice.
Aris Karcanias brings nearly two decades of experience in the energy industry to the firm, with a focus on renewable and clean energy. He has worked with several of the world’s leading energy, oil & gas and renewable energy companies, as well utilities providers in the energy landscape.
Explaining why he has joined PA Consulting, he said: “PA has a unique blend of technological capability, expert insight, and strategic know-how that unlocks value for clients. I look forward to working with the team at PA to continue to build a global energy services powerhouse that will be at the forefront of the energy transition.”
Karcanias joins the firm from FTI Consulting, where he was a Senior Managing Director and Co-lead of the Global Clean Energy Practice. He served FTI Consulting for seven years, and before that, Karcanias worked five years for BTM Consult, an energy consultancy specialised in renewable energy commercialisation (acquired by Navigant in 2011).
Over the course of his career, Karcanias gained extensive experience in market entry, business model innovation, energy transition and portfolio decarbonisation, business transformation and data science. He specialises in the clean energy segment, having been involved in international clean energy transactions totalling 15GW, including on/offshore wind, photovoltaic solar (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP), energy storage, and electronic vehicle (EV) charging.
“With almost two decades of experience working with industry investors, policymakers, regulators and corporates, Aris will further cement PA’s leading position within the global energy industry,” said Ken Toombs, the CEO of PA Consulting.
Alongside his role at PA Consulting, which is part of Jacobs, Karcanias is currently a member of the Investment Committee at SUSI Partners, a Zurich based clean energy transition infrastructure fund, and a member of the Board of NextWind, a newly established green IPP focused on mid to end-of-life assets.
