Alvarez & Marsal appoints Abhinav Agarwal as Senior Director
Alvarez & Marsal has appointed a new Senior Director to its London team. Abhinav Agarwal will now lead the firm’s global transaction analytics services in Europe.
Global consultancy Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) provides data analytics services to clients to uncover maximum actionable insights to support their M&A, divestment and investment strategy. The firm’s global transaction analytics (GTA) team leverages market leading technology, advanced analytics capabilities, and A&M’s operational, functional and industry expertise to drive relevant business insights – providing analytics as a service to private equity and corporates around the world.
As the firm looks to further boost its ability to support clients with GTA services across Europe in 2021, the company has named a new Senior Director among its London based team. Abhinav Agarwal joins A&M’s GTA Group to lead its service offering throughout the continent, bringing more than 15 years of transactions experience to the role.
Steven Lee, the Global Practice Leader of A&M’s GTA service offering, commented, “Our GTA team is perfectly placed to advise clients across the globe on a wide variety of deals. With both buy-side and sell-side experience, Abhinav brings the core expertise to support our growing client base and rapidly expanding team in Europe.”
According to a release from A&M, the firm hopes that the addition of Mr Agarwal to the London team will enhance its cross-border integrated client proposition, and further supplement the use of advanced analytics in transactions. Agarwal’s arrival will also support the firm’s existing offering in business technology and post-deal analytics, currently spearheaded in Europe by Yawar Murad.
Murad, Managing Director with A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Group, stated, “Abhinav’s work will complement the unique approach we take at A&M… With private equity funds holding significant amounts of dry powder, we expect deal flow to pick up this year, with markets buoyed by the COVID-19 vaccine. Transaction analytics will continue to be crucial for these deal-making decisions and complements the operational aspect of the advice A&M provides to private equity clients both pre- and post-deal.”
Prior to joining A&M, Agarwal spent more than a decade leading buy-side, vendor assistance, carve-out, and sell-side projects in PwC’s transaction services team, working to deploy advanced analytics in an M&A context. He also has experience advising businesses across a wide range of sectors, including retail, hospitality, FMCG, technology and healthcare, and has worked on projects across multiple markets including the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, India and the Middle East.

The news follows the further bolstering of the service offering in the UK last year with the addition of Devean George, who also arrived from PwC, where he was a Director in Transaction Services. Over the last two years, Alvarez & Marsal’s broader headcount across Europe has increased by over 50%, helping the firm break through the barrier of 1,000 staff across 22 offices in 15 countries.
