Ricardo Semler provides keynote at CMC Conference
Next week the International Consultancy Conference takes place in the Netherlands. One of the keynote speakers is Ricardo Semler, entrepreneur, management guru and creator of the ‘The Semco Way’, a well-known management approach.

Every year the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI*) organises a congress for consultants. This year’s edition of the so-called ‘International Consultancy Conference’ is being held in the Netherlands, hosted by the Dutch association for management consultants (Ooa) and the Dutch representative organ for consulting firms (ROA; the counterpart of the MCA)**. The event, titled ‘Innovation in Consulting - Global Examples, Local Effects', will take place on 22nd and 23rd September in Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk. Three themes stand at the heart of the agenda: Technological Innovation, Social Innovation and Value for the profession.
Ricardo Semler
One of the keynote speakers to present during the event is Ricardo Semler, a well-known Brazilian entrepreneur that has received global fame for his innovative approach for leadership and organisation. Semler is the founder of ‘The Semco Way’, a concept centered around a democratic management approach, where a company is in principle not run by managers, providing employees the freedom to determine their own tasks & activities. The methodology also for instance allows professionals to control their own compensation & benefits, time spent and focus areas. Semler developed the approach at a young age and applied it in his father’s company, a move which helped the company grow into a successful international conglomerate.
The unique approach has received major attention from both media as well management/HR professionals, and nowadays Semler travels the world to share his thoughts and experiences. His next stop will be the Netherlands, where he has been invited to provide a keynote during the International Consultancy Conference, where he more specifically will provide his vision on the rapidly changing landscape in the consulting industry.
Jan Willem Kradolfer, chairman of the Ooa, is delighted with Semler’s attendance. “We are extremely proud that we can welcome Ricardo to our conference.” During the International Consultancy Conference 2015 visitors will benefit from an elaborate and varied program, consisting of “several workshops, master classes, lectures and company visits,” says Kradolfer. “In addition to Semler we also have other inspiring keynote speakers as Fons Trompenaars (a renowned expert in the field of change and culture), Princess Laurentien (the sister-in-law of Dutch King Willem-Alexander) and Fiona Czerniawska (co-founder of Source for Consulting).”
