Forensic expert Flip Stander named Partner with RSM
Professional services firm RSM has appointed Flip Stander as a Partner in its London office. Before joining the firm, Stander was a Partner at Deloitte, and a former prosecutor with South Africa’s High Court.
While competitor and regulatory pressures are challenges business leaders take in stride, what they often do not expect is misconduct from internal or external perpetrators who can severely damage a company’s reputation – something which makes tracing the source of such problems crucial. This can help document the evidence, preserve business relationships and minimise the odds of it happening again. RSM’s forensic accounting and investigation professionals work with clients to unravel intricate financial schemes, with the firm’s corporate investigation team routinely handling asset misappropriation, bribery and corruption, embezzlement, financial reporting and fraud cases.
As the firm looks to strengthen its forensic practice, the audit, tax and consulting company has strengthened its forensic practice by appointing a new Partner in its London office. Flip Stander brings 30 years of experience to RSM, and will now lead its corporate investigations business from the UK capital.
Andrew Conti, RSM’s Head of Forensics in the UK, said, “Flip’s appointment significantly strengthens our investigations offering and highlights RSM’s continued commitment to meeting our clients’ fraud risk management and investigation needs.”
20 years of Stander’s experience stems from his time as a Partner in a Big Four firm. A former South African High Court prosecutor and financial regulator, he joined Deloitte in 2000, and spent five years as a Senior Manager, Forensic & Dispute Services in the firm’s Pretoria office in South Africa. Stander then became a Partner in 2005, before relocating to the UK in 2008. He has since led various high-profile forensic projects in numerous jurisdictions and in various sectors, and specialises in anti-bribery reviews, regulatory investigations and corporate governance, remaining with Deloitte until September 2020.
Earlier in November, RSM also gained Big Four experience with the appointment of Derek McAllan as a Partner in its Thames Valley office. McAllan also brought over 30 years of experience to the role, including 17 years as a Partner with KPMG.
