KPMG has named Alfonso Marone the new Head of its Deal Advisory practice for its Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) vertical.

Marone is a London-based partner at the Big Four firm who brings over two decades of executive and advisory experience in the technology, media and communications and private equity sectors to his new role.

In his new role, he leads a team of 15 Partners and Directors and over 100 consultants dedicated to transactions-related work in the TMT landscape. “I look forward to taking KPMG’s high-quality, integrated deal advisory solutions to our clients, while helping them to create maximum value in their investment decisions,” said Marone.

KPMG’s Deal Advisory practice – led by Liz Claydon – advises clients on all aspects of transaction planning, execution and integration, from pre-deal to exit. The unit works for corporates, investors, family offices and sovereign funds, among others.

The TMT industry vertical is currently one of the busier service lines within the division, amid the growing interest for technology and communications companies – two sectors which have been instrumental to helping companies of all sizes navigate the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Playing a central role in facilitating virtual working and digital transformation, companies in these segments are facing growing interest from both strategics and investors. “TMT is emerging as a key area of private equity and merger & acquisition investment so this is an exciting time to lead the team,” said Marone.

Marone himself focuses on strategy and deal advisory engagements in technology-enabled services, B2B information and media for a variety of corporate and private equity clients. His expertise spans B2B information and tech-enabled data/analytics services (SaaS); trade shows; film/TV entertainment & media; online video, and mobile communications.

He joined KPMG as a partner in 2018. Before that, he served as Chief Development Officer and ExCo member of Euromoney Institutional Investor and as Board Director of Dealogic, a SaaS platform for the investment banking sector. He has also held the post of Senior Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at NBCUniversal, and was formerly a Partner & Head of Private Equity at Spectrum Strategy Consultants (which merged with Italian firm Value Partners Group in 2007).
