Trio of senior promotions for KPMG Bristol and Reading
Big Four firm KPMG has made three senior promotions across its Bristol and Reading offices. Gemma O’Brien has been promoted to Associate Partner in the firm’s tax wing, while Michael Crowson becomes an Audit Director, and Edward Brown has been promoted to Director of the local private client team.
Andrew Morgan, South Region Chair for KPMG, said, "These promotions reflect our commitment to rewarding talent. I’ve been delighted that over the past 12 months many leading local businesses have chosen us as their advisers as we continue to build our presence in the South market."
Gemma O’Brien joined the Reading office of KPMG in 2001. Based in the Thames Valley, she has accrued more than 15 years of experience dealing with tax issues for distressed and insolvent businesses, since she first joined as a Tax Assistant. O’Brien has been promoted to the rank of Associate Partner, specialising in restructuring tax.
Michael Crowson has spent a total of seven years across two spells with KPMG. He arrived at the firm in 2011 as an Assistant Manager, becoming Audit Manager before spending two years at Chiltern in the group finance team. He re-joined KPMG in 2017, becoming a Senior Audit Manager, before being promoted to Audit Director in 2020.
Edward Brown meanwhile joined KPMG from Grant Thornton in 2011. He had been Private Client Senior at Grant Thornton prior to the move, and took up the position of Private Client Senior Manager at KPMG. The Bristol-based professional has now been promoted to Director, and will take responsibility for leading the firm’s Private Enterprise Shareholder team for the South West.
Earlier in the summer, KPMG appointed Liz Forsyth and Anna van Poucke as the successors of Mark Britnell, the outgoing Head of KPMG’s Healthcare, Government and Infrastructure industry vertical. In the newly created role, Anna van Poucke became the firm’s Head of Healthcare.
