Specialist asset and wealth management consultancy Alpha Financial Markets has appointed Jill May as a new Non-Executive Director. May brings more than three decades of experience to the role, having spent extensive spells both as a leader in the financial industry, and in regulatory bodies.

Founded in 2003, Alpha Financial Markets Consulting (Alpha FMC) provides independent advice and expert insight to asset and wealth managers, and boasts a suite of proprietary benchmarking data and other technology solutions. The fast-growing consultancy went public three years ago, and since then has been working to expand its operations as quickly as possible. Late last year, this saw Alpha FMC purchase Obsidian Solutions, a financial services focused, cloud-based SaaS business.

Now, Alpha FMC has looked to further strengthen its expertise with the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director. Jill May arrives at the firm with over 35 years of experience in investment banking to her name. She spent an extensive executive career in corporate finance, first for SG Warburg & Co from 1985 to 1995, and later holding senior positions in Group Strategy at UBS – where she was a managing director from 2001 to 2012.

May also commands an impressive CV when it comes to a host of regulatory and trade-body work. She has been a Panel Member and a Non-Executive Director with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) from 2013 to 2018, as well as a non-executive director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) from 2015 to 2019.

Commenting on her new role, May said, "I am excited to be joining the Board of Alpha. I am thoroughly impressed by Alpha’s track- record of growth underpinned by its delivery excellence and its strong culture centred around its people. I am delighted to have this opportunity to play a part in Alpha’s further success.”

She takes up her position alongside continuing work as an external member of the Prudential Regulation Committee at the Bank of England. She also holds Non-Executive Director positions with Standard Life Investments Property Income Trust, JP Morgan Claverhouse Investment Trust and Ruffer Investment Company.

Ken Fry, Chairman of Alpha FMC, said, "I am delighted that Jill is joining the Alpha Board next month. Her public markets and financial services experience will be a great asset as Alpha continues to develop across international markets, widen its service proposition and continue to execute on its strategic aims.”
