Alvarez & Marsal Taxand has added to its funds advisory practice with Daniel Parry, who joins from EY. Parry arrives as Managing Director to scale the business’ full-service fund advisory practice in its next phase of growth.

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand is an independent tax group affiliated with global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M). The organisation consists of experienced tax professionals, dedicated to providing customised tax advice to clients and investors across a broad range of industries, extending A&M’s commitment to offering clients a choice in advisors who are free from audit-based conflicts of interest. A&M Taxand provides services from offices in major metropolitan markets throughout the US, as well as in the UK from its base in London.

As the company looks to scale its fund advisory practice for a new stage in growth, it has appointed Daniel Parry as a London-based Managing Director. Parry will support the expansion of A&M Taxand’s financial investors practice, providing tax advisory and reporting services for fund managers and sponsors based both in the UK and across Europe. He will work closely with Managing Directors Jason Clatworthy, and Marvin Rust, the Practice’s European Leader, to continue to grow the business in Britain and in international markets.

Rust said of the news, “Against a backdrop of external market uncertainty, it has been a significant year for A&M as we continue to evolve our proposition, expand the breadth of our client services and grow the depth of our teams. Daniel’s experience and specialist sector knowledge will be instrumental in this next phase of expansion. I look forward to working with him.”

With more than 20 years’ experience in tax, Parry is a specialist in the structuring of, and advisory work for, investment funds. He joins A&M Taxand from EY, where he most recently ran the firm’s fund structuring team. During his time at EY, as well as spells with Deloitte and Grant Thornton, Parry carried out structuring of funds for large houses, the mid-tier sector and first-time entrants into the funds world. He has also advised a range of private equity, infrastructure, real estate and technology fund clients, ranging from £150 million to more than £1 billion AUM.

Speaking on his appointment, Parry said, “It’s fantastic to be joining such a dynamic team at this significant time of growth for the business. A&M is in a unique position to offer a more focused and better value proposition than many in the market, with its breadth and depth of consulting and tax advisory services. This is especially important now, at a time when funds and portfolio companies will be looking to maximise value from their advisors. I look forward to working with the team to shape this further.”

Parry’s appointment marks a time of growth and increased headcount for A&M Taxand, as it builds a full-capability funds launch and advisory practice in response to increasing client demand. The firm will hope his expertise will bolster the practice’s alternative sector coverage, while complementing existing proficiencies in infrastructure, real estate and other sectors.
