CGI opens Cyber Security Centre in Bridgend, Wales
Global consultancy CGI has launched a new Cyber Security Centre in Bridgend, South Wales. The new centre expands the firm’s services with plans for around 100 highly skilled and diverse analysts to provide cyber security services to clients across the UK.
The impact of cyber-crime is estimated to cost the UK up to $30 billion per year. As a result, despite generally flat IT budgets, the increasing threat of cyber-attacks has led to greater spending on security in both the public and private sectors. In recent years, Britain has seen an upsurge in spending on cyber security, from both the private and public sector.
As the fifth largest independent information technology and business process services firm in the world, CGI now hosts approximately 77,500 professionals worldwide, serving thousands of global clients from offices and delivery centres. With its British headquarters in London, CGI also has a growing presence across the UK. Earlier in 2019, CGI took its tally of offices in the UK to 20, with the launch of a new presence at the former Soapworks in Salford. The firm followed this up with the opening of another location in the North West, adding an office in Liverpool in November.
CGI has one of the UK’s largest dedicated cyber-security businesses, boasting more than 250 cyber security professionals based right across the UK. In a bid to further support client demand in the field, it has opened a new Cyber Security Centre in Bridgend, South Wales. The centre grows CGI’s current cyber-security services delivered from Wales with plans for around 100 analysts providing 24/7 cyber-services to clients in the UK’s commercial and public sectors. The hub will provide services including 24/7 protective monitoring, cyber threat intelligence, threat hunting and incident response and forensics.
Commenting on the launch, Richard Holmes, Vice President of Cyber Security Services at CGI in the UK, said, “At CGI we help a broad range of clients manage their cyber-security challenges with a business focused approach. Our new Cyber Security Centre will help our clients be resilient against the increasing threat of cyber-attacks, data breaches and the insider threat. CGI has had a long history as a major employer in South Wales and our latest investment is testament to the highly skilled workforce in the region and our commitment to continue to bring high-skilled jobs to the region.”
