Cognizant buys UK technology consulting firm Contino

Professional services firm Cognizant has today announced a plan to acquire enterprise DevOps and cloud transformation consultancy Contino. The move is set to conclude before the end of 2019, and will allow Cognizant to offer a new set of holistic capabilities.

According to a recent study by Grand View Research, the global digital transformation market is expected to surpass a size of $798 billion by 2025. The increasing necessity for the introduction of innovative solutions that are capable of engaging customers or employees to integrate process, data, IT and business and the increasing demand for the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) are propelling market growth.

As a growing number of firms look to realise the potential of these innovations, demand for consultants to help with the transformation process is also spiking.

Founded in 2014 by Matt Farmer and Benjamin Wootton, Contino is a consulting firm which works to support enterprises in their adoption of DevOps and cloud computing.

Since its launch, the firm has secured a wide range of cloud, infrastructure automation, and full stack software development projects, building its reputation for helping highly-regulated enterprises transform their way of working and accelerate their adoption of cloud-native technologies as a platform for innovation. The firm has now worked on over 200 enterprise engagements with over 100 of the world’s leading brands.

Headquartered in London, and with operations worldwide, Contino works with world-leading brands such as Adidas, Allianz, Barclays, Dow Jones, JetStar, Lloyds Bank, Morgan Stanley, National Australia Bank, and Vodafone. Due to its buoyant past performance, as well as being ideally situated to make the most of a coming digital transformation boom, Contino unsurprisingly attracted the attention of investors.

Cognizant is one of the world’s leading IT professional services companies, working to help clients transform their businesses, operating and technology models for the digital era. In order to strengthen its offering in the sector, Cognizant has confirmed its purchase of Contino, with the transaction due to close in the fourth quarter of 2019 for an undisclosed fee. Contino’s approximately 350 employees worldwide – in the UK, US and Australia – will now become part of Cognizant, enabling the firm to offer a new set of holistic capabilities from Contino to more readily deploy transformative cloud-based solutions for clients.

Matt Farmer, Co-Founder and CEO of Contino, said, “Joining Cognizant enables us to expand and scale our offerings globally, build on our tremendous success, and provide an even richer portfolio of cloud strategy and engineering capabilities… Our focus has always been on supporting the enterprise and their transformation using the ‘Squad Model.’ With this approach, we support our enterprise clients at every step, from engineering through to communicating the benefits of their journey, all for ultimate success.”

“We look forward to welcoming Contino’s talented team to Cognizant,” Brian Humphries, CEO of Cognizant, added. “The DevOps approach to cloud migration, core modernization and cloud security is reshaping how enterprises in all industries are building their infrastructures. This new set of holistic cloud capabilities from Contino will enable us to offer and more readily deploy transformative cloud-based solutions.”
