Cornerstone Research names Rahul Guha CEO
Economic and financial consultancy Cornerstone Research has appointed Rahul Guha as its new Chief Executive Officer. Guha has led Cornerstone Research’s work in numerous high-profile matters, and succeeds Michael Burton in the role.
Headquartered in the US, Cornerstone Research is an economic and financial consultancy, with over 700 staff across offices in Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington. The firm also holds a key hub in London which taps a wide range of top-level expertise from prominent faculty and industry practitioners to provide expert testimony in client cases pertaining to economic matters.
The firm’s CEO, Michael Burton, has more than thirty years of experience in economic and financial analysis of liability and damages issues arising in business litigation. Since taking the role in 2014, he has led the firm’s work in numerous high-profile matters involving antitrust, breach of contract, business valuation, intellectual property rights, international arbitration, market manipulation, and securities. However, Burton has opted to stand down from the position at the end of this year, prompting Cornerstone Research to begin a proactive succession planning process.
Rahul Guha will succeed Burton at the turn of 2020, with Burton continuing with the firm as CEO emeritus. Guha joined Cornerstone Research in 1996. The former co-head of the firm’s global antitrust and competition practice, he also founded the life sciences practice. Guha has led the firm’s work on numerous complex antitrust and competition, intellectual property, and product misrepresentation cases, and served as a testifying expert on several life sciences matters.
Commenting on his successor, Burton said, “In his more than two decades with Cornerstone Research, Rahul has established himself as a respected leader with exceptional strategic vision. Elected unanimously by our board of directors, he embodies our core values and team-based culture that are intrinsic to our firm’s success.”
The news comes after Cornerstone Research recently moved to support its growing roster of UK and Europe-based financial services clients, welcoming to its London office economics expert Greg Leonard, a Vice President with the firm, who will lead the European finance practice. The move followed Leonard spending the past 17 years with Cornerstone Research’s office in Washington.
