Manchester Airports selects Capgemini for ERP project

Manchester Airports Group has selected Capgemini to support its ERP transformation. The consulting firm will manage, develop and implement an ERP platform to provide MAG with a business model that supports efficient and scalable future growth. The contract will run until the summer of 2016.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is the largest UK-owned airport owner and operator in the country. The Group that was founded in 2001 serves over 40 million passengers every year, flying from its four airports (Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Stansted) to over 250 destinations worldwide. In addition, MAG handles over half a million tonnes of air freight each year.

As part of its wider transformation programme to enable profitable growth, MAG has hired consulting firm Capgemini to lead its enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformation. “As MAG continues to go from strength to strength, now serving around 48 million passengers every year, it is crucial that our IT capability provides a solid foundation for innovation and future growth,” explains Garry Dowdle, CIO at MAG. “The ERP transformation programme is at the core of MAG's IT strategy and will provide finance, HR and procurement with the right processes, data and technology for the job, delivering a step change in the user experience and helping to make MAG a great place to work.”

Capgemini will develop an ERP platform for MAG, which will be used to “enable innovative digital and customer strategies that will result in cost savings and improved customer service.” The platform, powered by new-wave SAP technologies, will be used to integrate different systems and processes across the four airports with a focus on customer experience.
