Head of Benchmarking at Accenture Investment Management Business Insights Emma Haffenden has left the consultancy to join Alpha FMC. She joins the firm as a Senior Manager, as the financial services consultancy looks to strengthen its benchmarking practice.

Alpha Financial Markets Consulting (Alpha FMC) provides independent advice and expert insight to asset and wealth managers, and boasts a suite of proprietary benchmarking data and other technology solutions. The fast-growing consultancy went public two years ago, and since then it has been working to expand its operations as quickly as possible.

Earlier in 2019, this saw Alpha FMC launch its new dedicated Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) & Indexing practice, led by Marc Knowles, based in Alpha FMC’s London office, to respond to the growing significance of both asset classes. It also continued to spread across Europe and North America with the purchase of Axxsys, a specialist technology and management consultancy with offices in the UK, Denmark, the US and Canada.

Emma Haffenden, Alpha FMC, Senior ManagerNow as the firm looks to maintain its impressive growth track, it has turned its attention to the expansion of its benchmarking practice. This represents a key milestone in the firm’s expansion strategy, as since its inception in 2003, Alpha FMC has built a very deep dataset of industry insights to position itself as a leading global consulting firm to the industry.

In order to further strengthen this, the consultancy has appointed Accenture veteran Emma Haffenden as a Senior Manager. A well-respected industry benchmarking expert, Haffenden will work to broaden the types of benchmarking that Alpha currently undertakes within a benchmarking team which helps its clients understand their businesses and take actions to meet their strategic objectives. In her new role, Haffenden will widen this offering to enable Alpha to drive additional insights and leverage the firm’s combination of deep industry expertise and proprietary data.

At Accenture, Haffenden was responsible for a number of strategic asset management benchmark programmes, following their acquisition of Investit in 2017. There, she spent two years as Head of Competitive Intelligence, having started her career at Expand, a subsidiary of BCG, before joining Capco’s Wealth practice in London.

Commenting on her new role, Emma Haffenden said, “I am delighted to join Alpha and have admired their deep industry specialism in asset and wealth management for several years. I believe Alpha is uniquely placed to help its clients make some of their greatest strategic decisions and to support them to grow and compete more effectively.”

Stuart McNulty, Alpha FMC UK Chief Executive Officer, added, “We are very excited about the expansion of our benchmarking team. Emma has a fantastic reputation in the industry and is a great fit for Alpha. We are planning a number of new and interesting studies to meet our client demand.”
