FTI Consulting launches its Ringtail Audio Discovery
FTI Technology, the technology business segment of FTI Consulting, recently launched its Ringtail Audio Discovery. This service enables organisations to search, review, redact and produce audio recordings alongside other documents as part of their legal e-discovery process, allowing them to save time and money in the process.
FTI Ringtail
FTI Technology’s Ringtail is e-discovery review and analytics software* that helps law firms and corporate legal teams of all sizes address legal, regulatory and investigative challenges. The software provides a visual approach to document review and predictive coding to streamline e-discovery into a repeatable business processes, helping organisations to lower their costs.
Due to new expectations by financial regulators and e-discovery requirements, more and more organisations are in need of audio recording discovery capabilities in case relevant evidence is needed from their call centre records or the corporate telephone system. To produce these records, many legal teams are listening to hours of audio data to track the potentially relevant materials and subsequently transcribing, reviewing, redacting and coding these transcripts in a linear and costly fashion
Ringtail Audio Discovery
To help organisations address this inefficient and expensive process of audio data collecting, FTI Technology launched the Ringtail Audio Discovery service. This service allows its clients to:
- Find targeted keywords, dates, custodians or unique speakers;
- Apply tuning and training for specific industry domains, accents or languages;
- Read the searchable text transcript while listening to recordings;
- Eliminate empty passages with silence and noise detection;
- Review audio of over 20 languages;
- Redact and export text transcripts as part of the regular e-discovery process.
Nimisha Patel, a Managing Director in the Technology segment of FTI Consulting, explains the advantages of the service: “For many organisations, audio collection and review follows a different process than handling common file types, such as email. Besides additional cost, the audio may be reviewed out of context, leading to erroneous coding decisions. The Ringtail Audio Discovery service provides Ringtail users with a seamless experience so audio files can be treated just like every other material, including the great search, review and production capabilities Ringtail users expect.”
