Global consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director in its London tax practice. Keith Thomas arrives from Big Four firm EY, where he was a Partner.

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand is an independent tax group affiliated to global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal. Taxand’s professionals extend A&M’s commitment to offering clients a choice in advisors who are free from audit-based conflicts of interest, and bring an unyielding commitment to delivering responsive client service, providing services from offices in major metropolitan markets throughout the US, as well as the UK from its base in London.

Demonstrating the firm’s commitment to growing its UK presence and range of services to clients in an industry landscape that is shifting in response to regulatory changes, Taxand strengthened its tax advisory practice with three senior appointments earlier in 2018. Following this, Taxand has further boosted its capacity with the addition of another Managing Director. Keith Thomas brings almost 40 years of experience to Taxand’s London office and will work alongside A&M’s senior practice leaders to expand the tax support that A&M provides to major corporates, particularly within the FTSE 100.

Prior to joining A&M Taxand, Thomas was a Senior Partner at EY in London, where he advised on a wide range of issues for domestic and multi-national corporate clients on global tax strategy and compliance as leader of EY’s FTSE 100 Tax Group. From 2011-2014, his leadership bridged cross-service lines for the FTSE 100 Group, a role that resulted in his subsequent appointment to the EY UK leadership team. Thomas joined EY in 1979, after gaining a Law degree from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth,

Commenting on the appointment, Ernesto Perez, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of A&M Taxand, said, “Keith has a wealth of knowledge in corporate tax, with three decades of experience. He shares A&M’s hands-on approach to leading teams in the marketplace and has built and retained long-term, trusted client relationships. Keith has a strong brand in the market and his arrival marks an important milestone in expanding our tax advisory practice.”

Marvin Rust, the Head of A&M Taxand Europe, added, “We are very pleased to welcome Keith. He brings extensive experience and knowledge to A&M Taxand that is pivotal to growing our service lines to meet client demand for integrated solutions. His track record of advising not only Tax Directors but also CEOs, CFOs, and other C-Suite leaders, makes him the ideal candidate to build on A&M’s offering of a senior-led advice approach.”
