Lufthansa Consulting helps Iraqi government with airport

Lufthansa Consulting has signed a large contract with the Iraqi Government.The German management consulting branche of the aviation company will support Iraq with the further development of Mosul International Airport,the largest airport in North-Western Iraq. The agreement was signed by both parties during the 'Iraqi-German Business Forum' in Berlin.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) includes the following responsibilities: the definition of a new strategy for the airport, the development of an airport marketing plan, the search for new airlines and the expansion of aviation-related business such as catering and aircraft maintenance. The German consulting firm will also be responsible for training airport staff to ensure they are up to date with all the required changes.

Privatizing of ground services

In addition, Lufthansa Consulting will prepare the privatization of ground services at the Iraqi airports. The Germans will lead the preparation of a tender process and together with the airport define the selection criteria, requirements and the to-be operating model.

Extension of cooperation

The partnership between Lufthansa Consulting and the Iraqi Government is not new. Over the past year, the advisory firm supported the government with multiple diverse projects, including the improvement of the ground handling services at Iraq's major airports Baghdad and Basra.
