UK-headquartered consultancy Elixirr has been named one of the nominees for another marketing accolade, following the firm’s recent triumph at the 2018 Drum Marketing Awards. B2B Marketing has announced its shortlist for the 2018 International B2B Marketing Awards, with Elixirr named a finalist for the ‘Best Brand Initiative’ gong.

Overcoming the obstacle of a limited network can make or break a new consulting firm. When it launched in 2009, Elixirr’s Managing Partner Stephen Newton knew that weaning the firm off of work provided by his personal network was key to its long-term success. Commenting in a recent interview with Consultancy.uk, Newton said that because of this pressure, “one of the key steps we took to overcome that was to build market recognition and invest in our brand.”

The self-styled ‘Challenger Consultancy’ pulled that off with aplomb, and was named one of the fastest growing consulting businesses in Europe last year, having recorded a revenue of €21.5 million, at a growth rate of 424% while, following its expansion into the US, the firm performed a similar feat in the American market. A large part of that success is derived from the firm’s innovative marketing technique, something which was recently celebrated by the Drum Marketing Awards.

The firm had shortlisted for the B2B Marketing Strategy of the Year back in May, and following the award ceremony during the summer, it was eventually announced that the firm had fended off competition from seven other entities to take the accolade home. Elixirr had been shortlisted alongside financial institution Barclays, as well as marketing agencies Earnest, Harvard, mark-making, RLA Group, Stein IAS and Velocity Partners.

Following on from this honour, Elixirr has now found itself nominated for another prestigious prize. Elixirr has been shortlisted for ‘Best Brand Initiative’ at this year’s annual International B2B Marketing Awards. The awards acknowledge and celebrate cutting edge brands, creative campaigns and the most innovative B2B marketing activity.

Elixirr’s ‘Challenger Consultancy’ campaign is in contention alongside some of the top agencies and heavyweight brands across multiple industries. These include the ‘E2 profit hunter: “Tiger”’ for Embraer, by Gravity Global; ‘For the inspired’, by RS Components; ‘Funding Circle global rebrand’ for Funding Circle, by Rooster Punk; ‘Hello to the Tinmasters’ for Tinmasters, by Valiant; ‘IBM #WhatMakesGreat’ for IBM, by Ogilvy UK; ‘The RYOT Studio Tour’, by RYOT Studio; ‘What we do hasn’t changed, just the way we do it’ for Yell, by True and ‘Wylex: Why choose anything less’ for Wylex. by Bray Leino. The nine contestants will find out who has scooped the prize at a ceremony attended by more than 800 guests in November.

Ellie Duffus, Elixirr’s Marketing Principal, said of the news, “To be shortlisted for a marketing award of this calibre is brilliant, and adds to what has been a great year for Elixirr. Everyone in the team is incredibly passionate about what we do for our clients and for our business – we really do put our heart and soul into it. To be shortlisted is a real testament to the strength of our whole team. Thank you B2B Marketing judges!”

The award nod will further strengthen Elixirr’s bid to grow the profile of its digital and design wing, meanwhile. The firm recently acquired advertising agency, Den, which has since rebranded to become Elixirr Creative, in order to grow the brand new element of the firm’s business. Elixirr Creative sees the consultancy offering strategic marketing advice combined with top design and development talent, as the consulting industry as a whole moves to eat into the market share of the lucrative advertising and design space.
