Former Arthur Andersen Corporate Finance Executive Lyn Calder has joined professional services firm Anderson Anderson & Brown (AAB) as a Corporate Finance Partner. She brings two decades of experience to the role, which will see her provide corporate finance advice to businesses, predominantly in Central Scotland.

Anderson Anderson & Brown boasts a track record for deal-making in Scotland, and has been recognised by the Scottish Business Insider in the last 13 years (2005-2017) as the top dealmakers in Scotland, in relation to deals completed. The firm was also recently voted as one of the top employers in Scotland by its collective staff of 253, scoring highly in terms of compensation – 78% of staff are happy with their pay and benefits – and equal opportunities, with at least 40% of senior managers being women.

Buoyed by its expanding fame, the professional services firm has made a series of changes to accommodate for “rapid growth” in 2018. Following a hike in demand for AAB’s in-house consulting services, this saw the firm launch its own dedicated consulting wing, and hopes for it to hit £5 million in revenues within the next three years.

Now the firm has boosted its more traditional operations, with the addition of chartered accountant Lyn Calder to its headcount. She brings extensive experience to her new role as Corporate Finance Partner, including all forms of deal execution including acquisitions, disposals, MBO’s & MBI’s, debt and equity fundraising, financial due diligence and valuations. She will provide corporate finance advice to businesses primarily in Central Scotland, as well as providing valuation services, and assisting owners to find out what their business is worth across a wide range of sectors including retail; food and drink; manufacturing; engineering; life sciences and technology; support services; and IT and software.

Calder has worked within the accounting industry as a specialist for almost 20 years, providing both lead advisory and banking services, most recently, with Johnston Carmichael’s Corporate Finance team in Glasgow. Calder reached the rank of Corporate Finance Director during her five years with the firm, before deciding to join AAB in 2018. Prior to this, Calder also spent nine years with Clydesdale Bank, where she became a Senior Partner, and one year as a Corporate Finance Executive at Alan Malcolm & Company. She commenced her career as an Audit Assistant with then-Big Five firm Arthur Andersen, becoming a Corporate Finance Executive before leaving the firm after almost three years, in 2002.

Speaking on her appointment, Calder said, “I am very pleased to be joining AAB and it is exciting to now be part of the top team of dealmakers in Scotland. I look forward to being able to play a part in further developing our corporate finance offering and enhancing the presence of the team in the Central Belt and beyond.”

Remarking on AAB’s new hire, Managing Partner Graeme Allan added, “We are delighted to welcome Lyn to the firm and have her join our growing team in Edinburgh. She brings a wealth of knowledge and varied experience within the corporate finance arena in the Central Belt which further adds to our ability to provide a fantastic service to our clients.”
