Joseph Mauro joins Huron Healthcare from Siemens
Huron Consulting Group has boosted its Healthcare team with Joseph Mauro, who joins as managing director. Mauro joins from Siemens, where he worked for approximately 30 years.
Joseph Mauro has approximately 30 years of experience. He started his career with Siemens in 1985, after graduating from Philadelphia-based Villanova University. During his 30-year spell at the German origin firm, Mauro fulfilled a range of management roles, most recently serving as National Director Strategic Accounts. In this role, he worked with executives of large, national health systems to drive performance improvement, process reengineering, and clinical transformation.
Per early February Mauro decided to take on a new challenge, joining Huron Consulting Group, a mainly US-based consultancy with a focus on five main domains — Education, Financial, Healthcare, Legal and Life Sciences. Mauro joins Huron Healthcare as a managing director, and will utilise his background in the industry to help healthcare executives address the ongoing pressures facing hospitals and health systems.
“Hospital leaders are focused on providing high-quality care and reducing costs, while concurrently developing strategies and capabilities for broader, transformational change. We are pleased to welcome Joe to our growing Huron Healthcare team and are confident that he will be a tremendous resource for clients addressing these strategic financial, operational and clinical priorities,” says Gordon Mountford, Executive Vice President at Huron Healthcare.
Earlier this month, Huron Healthcare acquired Studer Group for a fee of $325 million, creating a healthcare consulting practice with more than 1,500 employees.
