Aviation consultancy Helios has added two experienced consultants to its consultancy team: Garyth Lofthouse and Huw Ross.

Garyth Lofthouse brings a wealth of experience in the aviation industry to Helios, a subsidiary of Egis, a French engineering group with over 14,000 employees globally. The experience built throughout his 30 year career in the sector includes airport master planning, airspace design, Instrument Flight Procedure design and airport safe-guarding, working in both operations and consultancy. He most recently worked for a UAE based consortium, tasked with managing a variety of airport projects including a multi-billion USD new airport project in the Middle East. Prior to that, Lofthouse worked around eight years for professional services firm Cyrrus, latterly serving as Director Operations, and eighteen years for the Royal Air Force (RAF).

Huw Ross is an experienced air traffic management professional, having worked over twelve years in the industry with air traffic management company NATS, delivering safety, operational, and business improvement projects for airports and air navigation service providers. Experience gained at NATS includes writing safety cases to manage the risks associated with large projects, including the transfer of air traffic control operations to a new a site, and the introduction of new technology and airspace changes. Huw, who specialises in safety risk management and is also an experienced safety trainer, previously worked for RPS, MacLeod & Associates and Transfield Services.

Commenting on his new challenge, Huw, who has been appointed a Principal Consultant at Helios, said “I am excited to join a company with such a great reputation for excellence and couldn’t be more impressed with the team and the way they have welcomed me.” Lofthouse added: “I am already enjoying meeting Helios’ clients and working on operational improvement projects with the airport team.”

Nick McFarlane, Managing Director at Helios, said he is delighted with the addition of Lofthouse and Huw, stating “Both Garyth and Huw’s industry background and knowledge has already made them key additions to the Helios team.”

Last year Helios hired Sian McCart as its Marketing Manager – she is based in the firm’s Farnborough office.
