Huron Consulting buys software provider Sky Analytics

Huron Consulting Group has boosted its law management offering with the acquisition of legal spend management software provider Sky Analytics, boosting its legal database. Sky Analytics will be combined with Huron’s Legal Practice and the firm's President will join Huron as Managing Director.

Sky Analytics is a provider of legal spend management software for corporate legal departments to better manage outside legal spend. Through the web-based management platforms, companies have on-demand access to analysed legal spend information of their in-house legal departments and are offered potential cost-savings opportunities.

The firm that aims at “bridging the gap between e-billing providers and consulting services” has recently been bought by business consulting firm Huron Consulting Group and will be incorporated in Huron’s Legal Practice. “Now, with Huron Legal, we are creating a new category in legal spend management and changing the face of the legal consulting industry through analytics,” comments Doug Ventola, President of Sky Analytics.

For Huron Consulting Group, the acquisition is in line with its ambition to offer its legal clients the most innovative solutions possible and strengthens its law department management offering and complements its consulting expertise which will benefit its clients. “Sky Analytics has altered the playing field in legal spend benchmarking and analytics by transforming data into real-time actionable intelligence that law departments can use to manage spending and make more informed decisions. As a result of the acquisition, Sky Analytics’ professionals will be added to Huron’s Legal team and Ventola will join as Managing Director.
