US-based professional service group Kotter International has opened its first international office in London. The firm has made its formal venture into Europe with the move at the start of the year.

Kotter International, founded by renowned Harvard academic Dr. John Kotter, provides advisory services regarding change leadership. Currently the company’s chairman, New York Times best-selling author Dr. Kotter specialises in devising business change, having published 19 books on the subject in all, which have been printed in more than 150 foreign language editions – with collective sales exceeding three million copies – along with drawing up a famous 8 step formula for successful executive transformations.

Earlier in 2017, Entrepreneur magazine placed Kotter International 27th in the small-sized company category of their Top Company Cultures list, citing the group’s wide-spread recognition for creating an exceptional culture that drives employee engagement, while elevating employee expectations and impacting directly on companies success.

Dr. John Kotter and Graham Scrivener - Kotter International

Kotter’s new European team is headed by Graham Scrivener, an experienced professional with 28 years of business and consulting industry know-how under his belt, having plied his trade in more than 20 countries. Scrivener, who formerly worked in European general management and set up and ran his own successful business in London, joined Kotter International in order to lead projects for some of the largest global brands in the FMCG, financial services and manufacturing sectors.

A personal fan of Dr. Kotter’s business philosophy, having worked to implement his strategies practically as a consultant, Scrivener saw joining the firm as an opportunity to further export those principles to the world’s executive elite.

Now, as the company’s Managing Director for Europe, he believes the time is perfect for Kotter International to expand its operations, stating, “Once large, complex organisations understand how to make change happen, how leadership must be inclusive rather than exclusive, and how to have a positive and lasting impact on their people, they can transform their organisations, empowering not just the leadership team but the entire organisation.”

The firm’s chair, Dr. Kotter himself, meanwhile said, “We are delighted to be able to bring our expertise and our learning to the UK. Our office in London will bring a European perspective to our founding principles, helping the continent’s largest organisations adapt to a Europe that is relentlessly and unexpectedly changing.”

Kotter International has already from its offices in Boston and Seattle worked with a number of prestigious organisations across Europe, including firms in the pharmaceutical, utilities, food and manufacturing industries, with the consulting group claiming to have enabled each client to maximise their business impact, with a key focus on sustainability.
