Peter Lightfoot, former Managing Director of CLS Bank and RBS Short Term Markets, has joined management consultancy Elixirr as a Non-Executive Partner. Lightfoot will help drive the firm’s risk and liquidity management offerings across its global client base, as well as support key engagements within its wider financial services arm.

Peter Lightfoot, who prior to heading CLS Bank served RBS for over three decades, brings over 35 years of experience to the London headquartered consulting firm across many aspects of banking, from retail through risk management, regulation, liquidity and payment systems. He is specialised in intraday liquidity and financial markets, and has recently sat on major payment industry boards for CHAPS and the Bank of England Market Contingency Group.

“I’m delighted to be joining Elixirr. They have quickly built up an impressive reputation across financial services institutions, and their innovation-led approach to consulting is what attracted me. Building businesses is what Elixirr do best, and I’m looking forward to building out the risk and liquidity business”, said Lightfoot on his new challenge.

The addition of Lightfoot is in line with Elixirr’s growing stature and ambitions in the financial services domain, said Stephen Newton, the Founder and Managing Partner of Elixirr. “We have been working across financial services since the early days (the consultancy was founded in 2009) and have built up a solid reputation”, he said. The firm’s financial services arm has since completed engagements at clients such as Standard Bank, UBS, Western Union, Lincoln Financial Group, RBS, Barclays, BNP Paribas and Bank of Ireland, as well as at challenger banks and FinTech startups.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Peter to our firm. He brings with him a wealth of expertise that will take our risk and liquidity capability to the next level, building on the strong foundations of our current team. His appointment makes a powerful statement about Elixirr’s growing standing across financial services, and further supports our market-wide reputation for advising and supporting banks as they consider enhancing their CLS membership status. I’m excited for what Peter will bring.”

Other Non-Executive Partners of Elixirr are Keith Edginton, a former COO and board member of ABN Amro wholesale clients division, and Nick Riley, an executive with a track record across a variety of banks such as Banker’s Trust, NatWest Markets, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and Standard Bank.
