Deloitte opens office in Ethiopian capitol Addis Ababa
Accounting and consulting firm Deloitte has opened an office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city. The move follows from the merger with the Ethiopian accountancy and advisory firm HST.
Deloitte Ethiopia will initially focus on assurance, management consulting, financial advisory, tax and risk advisory services to clients in both the private and public sectors.
With a population of just under 100 million people, Ethiopia is one of Africa’s most promising markets. Export is one of the country's economic drivers – according to The Economist, Ethiopia is for instance now one of the top ten cattle exporters in the world. The expected entrance to the World Trade Organization within the next years is forecasted to give a further boost to economic growth.
Deloitte Ethiopia will be part of Deloitte’s East Africa region, a cluster of offices located in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The offices work closely together to provide services to cross-border clients in the region. According to Sammy Onyango, CEO of Deloitte East Africa, the new office will greatly benefit from Deloitte’s global network, which consists of approximately 200,000 employees in more than 150 countries.
“With the new office in Ethiopia and our partnership with offices in the region we have a pool of local experts that can solve any problem across basically any business discipline, while leveraging our global expertise”.
