Steer Davies Gleave opens advisory service in Manchester

Steer Davies Gleave has bolstered its position in the North of the country, with a new office opening in Manchester. The new arm, led by Director Simon Pringle, offers the firm's full advisory proposition for modes of transport, as well as a new economic development proposition.

Steer Davies Gleave (SDW) has opened a new office in Manchester, which, in concert with the firm’s Leeds office, offers SDW's full spectrum of services to clients across the North of England, The Midlands and Wales.

The recently inaugurated office boasts a team with expertise across the full transportation advisory spectrum covering all modes of transport. Expertise ranges from, among others, planning services and project management / implementation to development and urban planning.

In addition to transport consultancy services, the firm is also stationing its new economic development offer focused on improving client competitiveness across home and European markets to regional clients. The offering combines a variety of methods to improve business performance, covering everything from innovation to economic performance improvement. The new proposition is run by Simon Pringle, who started at SQW (a London headquartered management consulting firm) in 1993, first as a Senior Consultant for four years, then, following a brief hiatus from the firm, returning in 1999 to take on various roles, including (Associate) Director, Deputy Managing Director and Managing Director.

A statement from the SDW regarding Pringle's new role reads, “At Steer Davies Gleave, Simon is responsible for developing the firm’s wider economic development practice, building out its existing excellence in transport and movement into adjacent policy areas such as enterprise, knowledge, skills and governance, which together with transport and infrastructure drive place competitiveness.”

Besides Manchester and Leeds, Steer Davies Gleave has a third UK office in London. Globally the engineering consulting firm has 18 hubs on four continents, housing a team of around 400 employees.
