AlixPartners and Alvarez & Marsal have added senior consultants to their teams. Klaus Hoelbling, formerly CFO of Strategy& in the DACH area, joins AlixPartners as a Managing Partner in its European TMT practice, while Mark Greenberg has been appointed by Alvarez & Marsal as a Managing Director in its North American arm.

Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), Mark Greenberg worked at FTI Consulting for more than ten years, most recently as a Managing Director in the firm’s Corporate Finance practice in New York. Previously, between 2001 and 2006, he worked at Marotta Gund Budd & Dzera as a Restructuring Advisor. Earlier roles include Financial Analyst at Neuberger Berman and Senior Accountant at EY, where he started in 1996.

Greenberg holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lehigh University.

Mark Greenberg - A&M

Greenberg brings more than 15 years of experience to his new role at A&M; he joins the firm’s Unsecured Creditors’ Committee practice as a Managing Director. In this role, he will provide clients with his specialisation in representing official committees of unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.

Jeff Stegenga, Managing Director at A&M and leader of the firm’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice, says, “Mark’s experience advising creditors and his expertise in representing their interests to maximise their recoveries furthers our ability to help clients during this time of change in Chapter 11 process and approach.”

Prior to joining AlixPartners, Klaus Hoelbling worked as a Senior Partner at Strategy&, the strategy consulting arm of PwC, formerly known Booz & Company. In 2011, he became the CFO of the firm, responsible for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, also known as the DACH region, an €8.7 billion consulting industry.

During his more than 18 years at the consultancy, he supported the leadership of global telcos, digital and high-tech companies on issues related to strategy, transformation and operations. In addition, he built up experience in the financial services industry, related to the restructuring and winding down of distressed banks. He previously worked at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1996.

Hoelbling holds a Master of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management from Lancaster University and a Master’s degree in Commerce from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.

Klaus Hoelbling - AlixPartners

In his new role at AlixPartners, which recently underwent a change in its ownership structure, Hoelbling has been appointed as a Managing Director in the firm’s TMT team. He takes responsibility for supporting the firm’s expansion of its European TMT practice, focusing on regional telecoms, digital and high-tech clients. He will be based out of the firm’s Munich office.

Simon Freakley, Chief Executive Officer at AlixPartners, says, “The TMT industry in Europe is going through a significant transformation. Klaus has considerable sector expertise, built up over two decades of advising management teams and boards on how to enhance and reposition their businesses. We are delighted to welcome him to the firm.”

Two months ago, BCG added Andrei Caramitru, a Senior Partner and 16 year veteran of McKinsey & Company, to its TMT practice in the DACH and Central Eastern European market.
