EY appoints Darra Singh as UK Government and Public Sector practice lead
EY has appointed Darra Singh as its UK Government and Public Sector practice lead. Singh, who has been with EY for four years, will lead the firm's accounting and advisory services geared at the public, civil and semipublic sectors.
Darra Singh joined EY in 2012, as an Executive Director within the firm’s Government and Public Sector, and in 2013 became Partner and Head of Local Public Services. Previously, he worked at Riots Communities & Victims Panel, set up in the wake of the August 2011 riots, as its Chairman. Earlier roles include CEO and Second Permanent Secretary at Jobcentre Plus and DWP and CEO of London Borough of Ealing.
Earlier in his career, Singh, who was awarded an OBE in 2004 for services to local government, served the Hexagon Housing Association, the London Housing Association and the London & South East North British Housing Association.
EY’s appointment of Singh sees him promoted to the role of UK Government and Public Sector practice lead. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the public and third sector to the role, and is tasked with providing the firm’s advisory services to local authorities across the UK, in what remains a challenging fiscal and socially responsible environment.
Singh comments that he is “extremely proud” to take on a leadership role at the firm. “We will continue to work with clients to not only deliver value for taxpayers’ money, but also to ensure our public services are fit for the future,” he adds.
Jon Hughes, UK Markets Leader for EY, comments, “Darra brings a wealth of experience in the public sector arena. Given his background, he is ideally placed to take our Government and Public Sector practice forward and to help our clients meet the challenges ahead.”
