EDF Energy extends outsourcing contract Capgemini
UK Energy company EDF Energy has announced the extension of its outsourcing contract with Capgemini UK, through which the consulting firm delivers a wide range of IT services. The contract has been extended for two years and has a value of £12 million.
EDF Energy, UK’s largest provider of low-carbon electricity, recently announced the extension of its outsourcing contract with Capgemini UK worth £12 million. The three-year contract signed in 2010 has been extended for another two years until the end of 2015, under which Capgemini provides a broad spectrum of IT services to the energy company.
With the extended contract, the consulting firm will continue to provide the more than 20,000 EDF Energy IT users with service desk, procurement and managed desktop services, including support for email, instant messaging and file sharing. For these services, EDF Energy is making use of Capgemini’s worldwide delivery model ‘Rightshore’, and 70% is delivered by onshore experts and 30% by offshore and currently 150 Capgemini people are working on the contract.
The provision of consistent and standardised high-quality services for all users across all business units in the UK has been named a key focus point of the new contract, with safety and security as priorities.
