As an Associate Consultant in Teneo’s Crisis & Litigation practice (based in our Political & Regulatory team) you'll have a passion for communications, corporate reputation and public affairs, with at least a year’s demonstrable experience in a communications, media or legal role.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is interested in learning more about how to support companies as they build and protect their corporate reputation and navigate issues.

You’ll need a passion for current affairs and a willingness to dive into issues as they arise.

As part of our team you will play a crucial role, responsible for providing the highest quality of research and insight to support our advisory offering to our clients. Associate Consultants will take on a portfolio of client accounts, crisis and litigation projects and new business opportunities, working with colleagues across Teneo. You'd also be a critical support to our overall team when it comes to account co-ordination and you’d bring a strong approach to project and time management. You’d be responsible for staying ahead of relevant issues and developments from key stakeholders, and for applying insights gained from your understanding of media and legal environments to our clients’ challenges.

Crisis and Litigation Practice

In this team of experts everyone is joined up, hands on and plays an integral role on each client account. We span industry sectors, working with the leadership of some of the largest publicly listed and private companies globally, helping to navigate issues including political and regulatory, shape company narratives and influence how major news flow lands with key audiences.

You will also spend time in court supporting our clients during civil and criminal proceedings.

With our clients’ corporate reputation at the heart of our offering and taking an integrated approach to servicing client needs, you will also have the opportunity to work alongside other Teneo teams including Campaigning and Financial Communications providing you with a unique opportunity to expand your skills and experience across various disciplines. You’ll also get the chance to work with colleagues in our international teams from our offices around the world. You’d work into and learn from our Consultants, Senior Consultants, Associate Directors and Directors.

Key attributes
  • Client facing, building working relationships with clients, the media and other advisors
  • Stay well informed, with a passion for current affairs and politics, and sharing knowledge with teams and clients
  • Drafting communications materials (press releases, Q&A, key messages) to support with results and other corporate milestones
  • Dealing with the media on behalf of clients, building contact networks and helping to secure proactive opportunities and handling inbound media questions
  • Proactively highlighting opportunities and potential areas of concern for clients
  • Delivering the core requirements of support, research and insight for the client team
  • Media monitoring for clients and their competitors, using a variety of inputs and tools, to give wider context and advise on implications
  • Supporting new business efforts through spotting opportunities, research and preparation of pitch materials
Skills and Experience
  • At least 12 months of experience in a communications, media or legal role
  • Basic knowledge of and curiosity to learn more about business, public affairs and media landscape
  • Ability to grasp clients’ business objectives and relevant wider industry dynamics
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work proactively and flexibly within a team structure
  • Comfortable working under pressure, to tight deadlines and with varied workload
  • Highly organised
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
