Senior Consultant - Cloud FinOps Engineer

Your Role
As a Cloud FinOps Engineer you will help to drive cost optimisation and efficiency in cloud environments. This hands-on role will involve:
Cost Optimisation & Analysis
- Review and Analysis: Examine cloud usage patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising performance and availability.
- Architectural Guidance: Guide application teams in making cost-effective architectural decisions.
- Financial Accountability: Establish and enforce budget-aligned policies to ensure financial accountability.
Automation & Tooling
- Automation: Automate Cloud Financial Management tooling using programming languages like JavaScript and Python.
- Policy-as-Code: Implement policy-as-code guardrails for cost optimisation, ensuring preventative and auto-remediation capabilities.
- API Integration: Utilise APIs to integrate and automate cloud financial management tools.
- Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
Collaboration & Initiative Implementation
- Initiative Management: Build and manage a backlog of cost-saving initiatives, effectively implementing them to support clients' financial goals.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with development and operations teams to implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate complex financial data clearly to stakeholders.
- Technical Skills & Visualisation
- FinOps and TBM Tools: Hands-on experience with tools like Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and Google Cloud Cost Management.
- Data Visualisation: Proficiency in platforms like Tableau and Power BI.
- Programming Skills: Strong skills in JavaScript, Python, and SQL to drive insights and build dynamic dashboards.
- APIs: Familiarity with APIs for integrating and extending tool functionalities.

- Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.

Cloud Cost Management
- Experience: Proven experience in reviewing cloud usage, identifying cost optimisation opportunities, and implementing cloud financial controls.
- Cloud Platforms: Understanding of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms and their cost structures.
Programming & Scripting
- Programming Languages: Strong skills in JavaScript, Python, C#, and SQL.
- Automation: Proficiency in automating cloud financial processes using scripting languages.
- API Integration: Experience with APIs to integrate and automate cloud financial management tools.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code
- Infrastructure Tools: Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Policy-as-Code: Implementing policy-as-code for cost optimisation and guardrails.
Data Analysis & Visualisation
- FinOps and TBM Tools: Hands-on experience with Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and Google Cloud Cost Management.
- Data Visualisation: Proficiency in Tableau and Power BI.
- Dashboard Creation: Ability to build dynamic dashboards and generate insights from data.
Collaboration & Project Management
- Teamwork: Strong collaborative skills to work with development and operations teams on cost-saving initiatives.
- Project Execution: Proven track record of driving initiatives from planning to execution.
- Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Policy Development
- Governance: Experience designing and enforcing financial governance policies for cloud environments.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to budgets and compliance with financial regulations.
Technical Proficiency
- DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Microservices Architecture: Understanding of microservices architecture and its impact on cloud costs.
- Containerisation: Knowledge of containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Soft Skills
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical Thinking: Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Adaptability: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
