Our FSI team is expanding, with a new opportunity opening within our Banking and Lending team focusing on M&A and growth strategy. Potential candidates must have a robust understanding of the products, markets and commercial dynamics of the lending and deposit-taking sectors, as well as exceptional analytical and modelling skills, ideally with advisory backgrounds including strategy consulting, equity research, M&A, and/or accounting, or industry backgrounds including Group Strategy or Group Corporate Development
As part of a highly skilled team, you will have the opportunity to;
- Contribute to a wide range of projects & work streams reporting directly to Managing Directors or Senior Directors
- Carry out extensive financial modelling and valuation analysis including standalone and business-combination analyses
- Develop expertise in the commercial dynamics of the UK and European banking industries
- Contribute to high-profile M&A advisory engagements with industry executives and investors
- Gain ‘on the job’ learning & development in addition to established formal training programmes
- Network with our service lines and work on external marketing events to build cross- service line relationships
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in business development activities and will join the team meetings where project pipeline, resourcing, marketing and business development initiatives are discussed. You will be actively involved in these discussions as we grow the capability and be an integrated part of the wider FSI team.
Requirements:
- Financial modelling, quantitative analysis, valuation and broader excel skills are fundamental. Experience in developing cohort models and merger combination models is required
- Robust understanding of banking and lending commercial dynamics is necessary. Working knowledge of interest and fee income dynamics, credit risk and provisioning, regulatory capital and liquidity requirements, wholesale funding arrangements, and familiarity with the standard performance KPIs is needed, along with the ambition to further develop expertise in these areas
- Strong academic track record combined with an action-oriented approach and well-developed analytical skills
- Well-developed presentation skills (PowerPoint) essential and knowledge of SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, Python would be advantageous
- It would be beneficial if candidates had a professional qualification including ACCA/ CFA / CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
- Methodical and logical mindset to problem solving, an effective approach to time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines and in teams
- Fluent business level English is essential. Additional European language skills including French, Spanish, Dutch, German or Italian are highly desirable
