Job description

Are you ready to steer innovation, drive digital transformation, and lead a dynamic team to success in the fast-paced world of digital delivery?

Our Digital team are looking for an exceptional Delivery Lead.

At PA Consulting Group we help some of the largest and most complex organisations from across the globe to adapt and excel by adopting digital thinking and ways of working. To us, Digital Delivery is much more than a methodology, it’s the key to building the right leadership, cultural and organisational structure. Our business is made up of some of the world’s smartest Digital practitioners.

Digital Delivery Leads use their ‘head, heart and hand’ skills to drive the evolution of delivery practices and ensure excellence in every aspect of our delivery to clients – from strategy to shipping. You will lead by doing, mentor with generosity and simplify the complex. You will be responsible for consulting to clients and setting up and running projects and programmes to deliver digital transformation, as part of a highly skilled cross functional team. You’ll be adept at delivering complex digital products and services, breaking down barriers for your team, planning at a high-level and getting into the detail to make things happen as needed.

You will develop strategic, long-term relationships with clients, developing your role as a trusted advisor. You will formulate and articulate delivery strategies and workable, tactical plans. You will ensure our delivery solutions are robust, risk managed and commercially strong; and in some cases you will act as overall Assignment Manager for a client engagement.

You will be core to decisions that build high performing teams, where people are excited about the work they are undertaking. This means you are not set in one process or way of thinking but use exactly the right skills to solve our client challenges, though you will be a highly-experienced and proficient Agile delivery practitioner. You will spend 85% of your time in the work and 15% of your time on new business, capability priorities, mentoring and supporting others, including line management.

  • Have a strategic understanding of PA’s goals, purpose and vision; and why clients and employees come to PA

  • Demonstrate understanding of and promote best practice of the PA values and ways of working

  • Keep up to date with opportunities issues and trends, and have a point of view, sharing your knowledge generously

  • Play an active part in new business, coaching the team on possible and recommended approaches; including setting direction for delivery, pitching to present ideas, recommendations and estimates and being heavily involved in developing written responses

  • Help evolve and codify our Delivery practice, deliver projects using the appropriate methodology, learning and iterating frequently, and coaching others to do so

  • Set the bar/example of what great Delivery Management looks like, ensuring quality and attention to detail is embedded throughout our work

  • Actively participating in the wider Delivery Management Capability, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice

As a Digital Delivery Lead, you will:

  • Lead and formulate delivery strategies, and be a delivery expert the team can draw on to determine the most appropriate approaches and methodologies

  • Clearly communicate delivery direction to others and be ‘in the work’ yourself

  • Have direct line management responsibilities; coach, mentor and train; organise and run interviews, onboarding activities, 1-2-1’s, performance and development plans

  • Be leading planning and kick off of projects and programmes of work, and collaborating closely with the team to keep focus on working in a rational sequence following an agreed approach, using appropriate methodologies and techniques

  • Analyse and evaluate pros and cons and identify risks to make decisions that take account of the wider context of a project or relationship and identify the correct point for escalation and action. Make considered recommendations to appropriate escalation points

  • Demonstrable experience of running Agile delivery projects in this domain

  • Demonstrable commercial acumen, with excellent written and numerical skills. You will be highly-experienced in writing Statements of Work, project approaches and proposals, in long-form

  • Expertise in estimating, scoping and delivering large scale digital projects and products, using a variety of techniques
