An overview of the role:
As part of the Digital Engineering team in Invent you will work on high profile, impactful projects with industry leading organisations to helping them to define the journey to transforming the way in which organisations develop and manufacture products and then support and maintain those products throughout their lifecycle.
The work is varied and you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of client facing projects across multiple industry sectors. Projects may touch on various aspects of the management of products throughout their lifecycle ranging from product design and development, product manufacture and through life product support and maintenance.
You will use technical and business knowledge together with Industry 4.0 and 5.0 concepts to help clients develop the justifications for change together with defining the aspects they need to put in place to realise their ambitions which would cover transformation roadmaps and business cases, operating model design and solution architectures.

You’ll work on projects that transform every aspect of a clients’ product development, manufacturing and product support operations to deliver sustained business benefits across profitability, efficiency, quality and embed new behavioural change. You will be able to work with colleagues from other parts of Capgemini including Capgemini Engineering, Hybrid Intelligence and Cambridge Consultants to develop compelling and comprehensive propositions to our clients.

We are looking for entrepreneurial individuals with the knowledge and creativity to deliver truly inventive solutions to our clients.
You’ll bring engineering, manufacturing transformation, and/or product lifecycle management or equivalent experience. This experience could have been gained through operational, technical or leadership roles in industry, or through delivering major consulting assignments for blue-chip consulting organisations.
Depending on the stage you are at in your career, we’re looking for appropriate levels of knowledge and/or experience of engineering and ideally manufacturing operations, including one or more of the following areas:
- Bachelors or master’s in Engineering or Manufacturing related degree
- Good knowledge of manufacturing operations from one or more of the following industry sectors – Automotive, Aerospace and Defence, Engineering, FMCG and Life Sciences
- Strong understanding of the technologies underpinning manufacturing operations and their respective capabilities this should include one or more of the following – MRP, MES, SCADA, IT/OT
- Appreciation of digital twin concepts and their applications to manufacturing
- Value Stream Mapping, Manufacturing Capacity Audit and/or Operations Strategy
- Lean manufacturing toolbox familiarity, Lean Six Sigma Green / Black Belt Certificate as a plus
- Process and capability models for engineering, manufacturing and through life support
- Innovation and product lifecycle management processes and value drivers
- Agile and Lean based delivery methods
- Experience in either/both TPM and TQM would also be beneficial
- Professional Systems Engineering certification from an organisation such as INCOSE, or the desire to work towards it
Personal attributes:
- Comfortable using data and analytics to drive decision making, implement new ways of working and change operational behaviours.
- You’ll be experienced in consulting methods and approaches, or have skills that are readily transferable such as agile methodologies, lean six sigma and statistical process control
- You have a passion and understanding of Intelligent Industry and how Digital Engineering transformation manifests in the ever-changing digital world, with a thirst for thinking ‘what is next’.
- You’re able to articulate your views on the future of Intelligent Industry and Digital Engineering, and the future of specific industry sectors.
- You bring a solid track record of successful and profitable project delivery, can work independently as well as in teams - in our collaborative but sometimes demanding project environment.
- You have a passion for development, coaching others and improving performance.
- You have the ability to identify business issues, developing possible solutions and taking those into client proposals; and have some experience in selling work to clients.
- You possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and efficiently across all levels of Capgemini, client, and 3rd party organisations.
- You demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and resilience – being able to adjust positively to situations that involve changing tasks and/or location, shifting priorities or ambiguity.
