An overview of the role:

As part of the Digital Engineering team in Invent you will work on high profile, impactful projects with industry leading organisations to helping them to define the journey to transforming the way in which organisations develop and manufacture products and then support and maintain those products throughout their lifecycle.


The work is varied and you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of client facing projects across multiple industry sectors. Projects may touch on various aspects of the management of products throughout their lifecycle ranging from product design and development, product manufacture and through life product support and maintenance.


You will use technical and business knowledge together with Industry 4.0 and 5.0 concepts to help clients develop the justifications for change together with defining the aspects they need to put in place to realise their ambitions which would cover transformation roadmaps and business cases, operating model design and solution architectures.

You’ll work on projects that transform every aspect of a clients’ product development, manufacturing and product support operations to deliver sustained business benefits across profitability, efficiency, quality and embed new behavioural change. You will be able to work with colleagues from other parts of Capgemini including Capgemini Engineering, Hybrid Intelligence and Cambridge Consultants to develop compelling and comprehensive propositions to our clients.

We’re growing our team and looking for a range of skills and experiences. We’d like to hear from you if you have management consulting experience, have held senior manager roles in Digital Engineering or you are at an earlier stage of your career. 


We are looking for entrepreneurial individuals with the knowledge and creativity to deliver truly inventive solutions to our clients.   


You’ll bring engineering, product development and new product introduction experience.  This could have been gained through operational, technical or leadership roles in industry, or through delivering major consulting assignments for blue-chip consulting organisations.  


Depending on the stage you are at in your career, we’re looking for appropriate levels of knowledge and/or experience of engineering and ideally product development processes, including one or more of the following areas:  

  • Product Lifecycle Management concepts and the capabilities provided by leading PLM toolsets such as BOM Management, EBOM, MBOM etc, Engineering Change Management, variants and configurations  
  • Process and capability models for engineering and manufacturing understanding how these can be improved and used to drive value across the end-to-end value chain 
  • Innovation and product lifecycle management processes and value drivers 
  • Business case development 
  • The creation of transformation roadmaps and enabling solution architectures  
  • Knowledge of digital twin and digital thread concepts and their practical application for transforming product design and development  
  • Working knowledge of relevant platform tools such as Dassault Systèmes 3DX, Siemens Teamcenter, SAP PLM and SAP ERP amongst others


Personal attributes: 


  • Interest or experience in Aerospace and/or Defence industries. 
  • Comfortable using data and analytics to drive decision making, implement new ways of working and change operational behaviours. 
  • You’ll be experienced in consulting methods and approaches, or have skills that are readily transferable such as agile methodologies, lean six sigma and statistical process control  
  • Experience from one or more industrial sectors, ranging from aerospace & defence, platform manufacturing, to automotive OEM, utilities, consumer products and life sciences, potentially with an international dimension. 
  • You have a passion for and an understanding of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 and how Digital Engineering transformation manifests in the ever-changing digital world, together with a thirst for thinking ‘what is next’. 
  • You’re able to articulate your views on the future of Digital Engineering and product development, and the trends that are shaping specific industry sectors.  
  • You bring a solid track record of successful and profitable project delivery, can work independently as well as in teams - in our collaborative but sometimes demanding project environment. 
  • You have a passion for development, coaching others and improving team performance. 
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and efficiently across all levels of Capgemini, client, and 3rd party organisations. 
  • You demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and resilience – being able to adjust positively to situations that involve changing tasks and/or location, shifting priorities or ambiguity.  
  • Hold (or eligibility to hold) SC clearance status is preferred.

Whilst you will have London, Manchester or Glasgow as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.

We offer a remuneration package which includes flexible benefits options for you to choose to suit your own personal circumstances and a variable element dependent grade and on company and personal performance.
