Job Description & Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in building and executing a data governance framework, strategy, policies and standards. This position assists in the implementation of an enterprise data governance programme.


Responsibilities

  • Research latest regulations or updates to existing regulations and standards relevant to the data governance space.

  • Support clients with the design of data governance strategies and their implementation.

  • Develop control structures within a data control environment to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels.

  • Design Data Management Operating Models as well as drive their implementation.

  • Provide thought leadership and participate in projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes.

  • Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and IT.

  • Work with business partners to gather and understand functional requirements, develop complex queries and provide reports.

  • Work with business partners and team members to execute and implement data governance standards.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of data governance approaches, policies, standards and guidelines.

  • Strong experience in implementing an end-to-end data governance process.

  • Strong experience in designing data governance frameworks and strategy as well as corresponding operating models.

  • Aware of financial services regulations - not data privacy, but in data management.

  • In-depth knowledge of databases and data structures.

  • Basic to intermediate experience in working with data management tools such as Collibra, Atlassian, Solidatus or Atacama.

  • Basic level proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Intermediate level proficiency with VBA.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, and Outlook.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 2+ years of data quality or similar level data analysis experience required.

  • 1+ years SQL and VBA experience required.

  • Certifications & Trainings (plus): Collibra, Altassian, Solidatus, Data management certifications such as DAMA.

  • Past experience in consulting or advisory.
