An overview of the role:
With the retail industry in the midst of one of the most profound periods of disruption and transformation, and in order to continue our growth and expand the knowledge we have, we are now looking to recruit more high calibre Retail Merchandising & Supply Chain consultants to bring new ideas and perspectives into our team and the work we do.
First, and foremost, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative solutions for some of the worlds largest retailers. Drawing on your knowledge and experience in merchandising and supply chain you will work collaboratively with Capgemini colleagues and our clients, supporting them to understand challenges and opportunities, design future models to address and realise these, and implement new solutions in their businesses.
Our Supply Chain consulting team brings together experts across all retail disciplines – from buying and merchandising, to warehousing, fulfilment and store operations so you will be working in good company. We bring industry expertise, practical lived experience and a collaborative and can-do attitude that inspires progress and change in our clients.

You’ll potentially work on a huge variety of projects (some larger than others), so you could gain lots of experience in a short amount of time.

Why this role?
A Merchandising and Supply Chain consultant at Capgemini Invent will generally find themselves working in a multi-disciplinary team, designing and delivering solutions for a large retailer or consumer products company. No one project or day is the same, activities might vary from attending strategic thinking ideation sessions, to running large workshops with client stakeholders. We are constantly developing our thinking around the future of retail and you’ll be a key part of developing this and making it a reality for our clients.

1) Retail Industry knowledge and experience
Our most impactful consultants are passionate about merchandising and the retail industry and have experience working within the retail sector. Expertise can be gained either through time spent working in large or progressive retailers, or through delivering projects for retail clients. We expect candidates to understand how the buying, merchandising and forecasting functions operate and how they affect the wider retail landscape. We are looking for candidates from all retail sectors, including fashion, general merchandise and grocery business models.
2) A confident and collaborative attitude
Collaboration is key to our business and we require consultants at all grades to be confident and capable building relationships in our own and our client’s businesses. Experience in consultancy methods and approaches is helpful, but not essential. If joining from industry (with no or limited consulting experience) we find resilience and a proactive attitude to learning is essential.

Whilst you will have London, Manchester or Glasgow as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.
