Job Description

Our Complex Systems team works with organisations to help them to draw insight from, and develop solutions in complex environments such as those seen across the UK energy, utilities and wider infrastructure sectors. As the world becomes more complex, dynamic and interconnected, we help our clients achieve sustainable success in a highly competitive environment.

We are looking for experienced and senior consultants to accelerate the continued growth of our Complex Systems team in the Energy & Utilities (E&U) sector. Our E&U team works with clients across Nuclear, Regulated Utilities (network companies in the Water and Energy sectors) and Energy Transition which includes smart energy systems, clean and smart mobility, Hydrogen, and CCUS. As a firm sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and the E&U team are central to our work in sustainability and climate response.

Within PA, our Managing Consultant (MC) role is a senior role that often works with C-suite executives and policy leaders, to help them tackle their most difficult challenges. With one foot in project delivery, one foot in the strategic and a head for business and proposition development, this role is highly varied and calls for someone who is autonomous and a self-starter. The individual will have a track-record of delivery, using their strong network and experience in identifying and winning new consulting business opportunities.

To rise to the challenges of this role, you’ll need a strong track record of delivering solutions and thinking creatively to solve complex problems. Experience in systems definition and design, modelling, enterprise architecture, systems integration, verification and acceptance is highly desirable.

We are looking for candidates with skills and experience in developing and leading work in one or more of the following areas:

  • A proven ability to shape, win and deliver cutting-edge work for clients in the Energy & Utilities sector across Nuclear, Regulated Utilities, Climate Response and Energy Transition.
  • Strong commercial acumen and bid management experience. You should be able to manage the P&L for complex and large projects.
  • Excellent business development and self-starter skills; you should already have ideas/concepts for projects to meet client needs in Energy and Utilities sector(s), along with some personal accountability for business growth and development.
  • A strong track record of assembling and managing a diverse team to deliver creative and innovative ideas in solving complex problems.
  • Prior experience in systems definition and design, enterprise architecture (beyond software solutions), systems modelling and dynamics, or systems integration, verification, and acceptance.
  • A drive for personal and professional progression.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills in multi-cultural environments.
